I just upgraded my laptop from windows 7 to windows 10. Before I upgraded, my brother created an account for himself and windows 10 seems to think that his account was the main one. He didn't have administrator access, so now I'm locked out of everything that requires administrator access. When I try to install new software, the security pop up happens, asking for an administrator password, but there is no field to enter a password.I can't open the command prompt (windows - cmd - enter)I can't switch accounts, logging out lists no other accounts. How do I get administrator access back, and how can I make windows stop thinking I'm my brother?
If you do Windows Key + R, then enter cmd in the run dialog. Then in the command window type net localgroup administratorsWhat do you get? Microsoft Windows Version 10.0.10240(c) 2015 Microsoft Corporation.

I managed to enable the administrator account, but now when I go to log into the administrator account, It tells me'Your account has been disabled. Please see your system administrator'On top of that, it seems to have forgotten my microsoft account so now there is absolutely no way to log in, and for some reason the power button has disappeared from the login screenWow. So it looks like you have two options at this point. Well, I have the same problem - but, I'm logged in as 'Dan':C:UsersDannet localgroup administratorsAlias name administratorsComment Administrators have complete and unrestricted access to the computer/domainMembers-AdministratorDanThe command completed successfully. While it says I have unrestricted access, I don't. I can't do a darn thing that requires administrative access.DanI have the same issue as you Dan.
Your Touchpad Has Been Disabled Windows 10
My account is the admin account, when I view my user account it says I am the administrator yet I can't do anything that requires admin access.Chris.
When I start my laptop, a screen appears that says 'ADMINISTRATOR Your account has been disabled. Please see your system administrator.' Below that is an 'okay' button, and when I click that, it bringsme to another screen that has my account name, and I type in my password and it logs me in. Is there a way to get rid of the initial screen so it just goes immediately to my account? I was told to go to 'Edit Group Policy' to change my account to the administratorone but when I search for it, it appears as a search result, but when I click on it, it opens a new window that says 'no results match your search.' Hi,Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. You should first understand that you are putting your computer at risk if you run under the built-in Administrator account. This account is disabled by default in.
If you just want to avoid the User Account Control prompts, you can change this setting easily by going to the Action Center, and clickingChange User Account Control settings. If you still prefer to enable the build-in Administrator account, follow these steps:1. Click 'Windows key + X', select Run as administrator2. At the command prompt, typenet user administrator /active:yes, and then press ENTER.3. Type net user administrator, and then press ENTER.Note: Please replace the tag with your passwords which you want to set to administrator account.Type exit, and then press ENTER. Log off the current user account. Please get back to us with the above information in order to assist you accordingly. For further assistance, you can post your query in Microsoft Community.Thank you.Rakesh C N Microsoft Community.
Administrator Your Account Has Been Disabled Windows 10 Home
I own a 'HP G71-340US Notebook running Windows 7' and I'm attempting to restore my computer completely (to delete everything). Then at one point, when I turned on the computer a few days ago, it took me into Recovery Manager, I couldn't do anything. I try to restore the computer as new and told me it will restart a few times. I let it do that, then I see an error telling me it can't restore. I click Ctrl, Alt, Del and was able to log off of that. Then after that it showed what to log into.
I click administrator (because I am the administrator of that computer) and it says Account Disabled, see your system administrator. Then I click other user, it gave me the option to put in a username and password, but it keep saying that the username and password is incorrect. So I shut the computer down, waited about 10 seconds, then it's trying to set up as new, it took about 20 seconds and then a different error comes up saying, 'Windows cannot install, please restart to install.' I done this so many times that I think I screwed up my computer. I can't even contact HP from the the computer in Recovery Manager, and I can't go into Safe Mode.Caused: I had over 458 trojans, 2 rootkits and 0 viruses on my computer (as it says when I scan the computer before the errors showed). And please don't ask about the trojans, I don't know how that got on my computer.NEW PROBLEM: I turn on my computer this morning, it says 'Setting up as new computer.' Then it takes me to the Welcome screen then within 20 seconds, it tells me that 'windows cannot install and that the computer needs to reboot.'
I let it reboot about 3 times and still nothing. I try getting into Safe Mode but it won't load at all. Hello Michael08081,I see that you are having problems with your computer restoring. It appears that the virus issue you were having corrupted the recovery partition on the computer. It has failed to complete the re-installation of the computer and now you are stuck in a loop.My suggestion would be to order recovery disc from HP. You can do it here at their website.
The link takes you directly to your specific model. You can select the option 'Order Recovery Media' and select the Windows 7 discs. If you have trouble ordering them from the website you can call HP directly and order them over the phone at:(800) 474-6836Once you get the disc you can reinstall the operating system and should be able to complete the setup.
It's really hard to tell what could have been the reason behind this, but from my experience it is good to note that if you run sysprep you should always do so from the built-in local Admin account. Do not rename the local Admin account or do not create a new user, add them to the Administrators group and then try and sysprep from that new user account.Even if you intend to disable the Administrator account, it is best practice to run sysprep from the 'true' local administrator account and then use the sysprep.xml file to disable the built-in local admin account.Just my $.02. You don't have to do that. In windows 7, restart the machine in 'safe mode with command prompt' option, once the dos windows opens (black screen) type: mmc and press enter. This allows you to load snap-ins. Load the Computer Management snap in: select it then hit the arrow so it moves to the right-hand side - Finish. Once the snap-in loads click on Local Users and Groups, Users, Right-click or double-click the administrator account and un-check the 'account is disabled' box.

Save the settings when you are done and restart the machine. If you are syspreping the machine and get a sysprep error, at the error window press 'Shift F10' and you should get the command prompt. Once you have the command prompt you can do your magic (above).
